The AI Dilemma

Here are my take aways from "The AI Dilemma."

  • The Rubber Band Effect- we expand our minds from watching or learning one thing, but once you've moved on you snap back to reality.
  • They are not speaking about the positives of AI
  • AI needs to be deployed in a safe and responsible way
  • Responsibility
  • 10% chance that humans go extinct from not knowing how to control AI
  • 3 Rules of Technology
    • New technology=new responsibilities
      • curation and creation AI
      • we lost the first time technology was created (mental health, addiction, etc)
      • engagement monster
  • AI used to just be computer vision, speech recognition, robotics, image and music generation, and speech synthesis
    • changed in 2017 when they all became one (Language)
  • Dreams could be decoded in the next couple of years
  • The engine representing AI has changed
  • Cameras can track people in the dark
  • Prompt generated speech
  • AI is the ruler of the virtual and symbolic world
  • "2024 will be the last human election" as in whoever has the greater compute power will win
    • being able to control ai will up your credibility
  • curate mind= the ability to model what someone's thinking
    • evolved from a 5 year old's mind to a 9 year old
  • reinforcement learning with human feedback to fix AI
  • Gollum AI's can make their selves better
  • AI can make AI better
  • 2nd contact with AI (humanlike)
    • fake
    • blackmail
    • reality collapse
    • cyberweapons
    • scams
    • synthetic relationships
  • companies deploying AI are frantic "don't feel it is being done in a safe way."
  • AI developments are growing faster and faster
  • Let's not make the same mistake we did with social media
